The Growing Stage Summer Arts Day Camp’s GROWING IN STAGES program is designed specifically for children who will be attending kindergarten in the fall of 2017 through students who have completed third grade in June of 2017. This program is one of exposure and participation in the performing arts, wherein children are encouraged to work and play together in a creative environment toward a common goal.

The theatre arts offer a channel for a child’s natural gift of imagination. Through theatre arts, children develop their creativity, improve their communication skills, gain self-confidence, and experience the rewards of collaboration. Above all, children enjoy becoming a part of the magic that happens on the stage.

Modeled after our Summer Arts Day Camp, the GROWING IN STAGES program is designed to offer children an introduction to many aspects of theatre arts. The program includes dance, music, art, creative games, story dramatization, and improvisation. During the themed week, children are encouraged to contribute to the creation of skits, choreography, sets, props, and the design of our culminating activity – a 7:00 pm performance in the evening of the final day for family and friends. It is an exciting, fun-filled four day process of creativity, discovery, collaboration, practice and performance. This particular week of camp is perfect for children attending a camp program for the first time or for those new to the theater.

 

A Typical Day

9:00:            Arrival – Greet new friends and counselors in theatre

9:05:            Large group activities to warm-up the actor’s tools: voice, body, and imagination

9:30:            Small group class section #1 begins. Children move with their counselors to the first assigned classroom for lessons in music, dance, drama, or stage crafts.

10:05:            Small group session #2

10:40:            Small group session #3

11:15:            Small group session #4

11:45:            Large group review of the day’s activities. Camp show takes place 7pm Friday evening for invited family and friends. Admission is free.

Dismissal promptly at 12:00 pm.

We maintain a 6 to 1 ration of campers to counselors. Class size is limited to preserve this ratio.

Session groups are determined by children’s age/grade in school. Activities are tailored to

the children’s ages.

Please Note: All children will be provided with a journal or scrapbook, which they will add to daily as a learning log and memento of their week at camp.

Each camper is given a Camp 2017 T-shirt.

Your registration fee is the only cost – there are no additional fees connected with the camp.

Cost: $200.00 for the 4-day session.

Refund Policy: Any cancellations prior to June 1, 2017 will be refunded in full. All cancellations received after May 31, 2017 are subject to a $50.00 processing fee. Cancellations received between June 1 and June 19, 2017 will be refunded less the processing fee, only if a replacement is found. Cancellations received after June 19, 2017 are non-refundable.
