Main Stage Matinees
The same shows that appear on our Main Stage on the weekends have been tailored to meet the tight constraints of a school-day in our Main Stage Matinee Series. In addition to your class trip to our theatre for the performance, we continue our practice of providing excellent lesson plans and the unique opportunity for your students to have a question and answer session with our professional artistic team - director, designer and actors! This year we will again offer This year we will again offer A Midnight Cry : The Underground Railroad to Freedom in addition to The BFG, and Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse to students here, at the Growing Stage during their respective runs on our Main Stage.. Touring & Resident Company
In addition to our Main Stage Matinees, The Growing Stage offers unique opportunities for education enrichment through our touring and resident companies. Answering our mission of nurturing the development of the performing arts through education, we have had the privilege of performing for schools throughout New Jersey and are on the New Jersey State Council on the Arts approved roster of Artist Residency Companies. Our current touring production is described below.

Tales from the Garden is a fun-filled journey through the rich history of the Garden State form its original settlers to its many legends as well as some of the more unique roles New Jersey has played in American history. It can be performed either at the theatre or in school and is available April through May.

Recommended for Grades: 3rd - 8th Grade
