Creative Dramatics back to top
The Creative Dramatics program serves young people pre-school through third grade with an exposure and participation program in the performing arts. The theater arts become a natural extension of the child’s gift of imagination and role-playing. Through theater, children sharpen their creativity, improve their self-confidence and learn the importance of teamwork. Above all, children enjoy becoming a part of the magic that they create on stage. Our program is designed to offer children an introduction to many aspects of theater arts through creative games, story dramatization and improvisation. Each program runs ten weekly sessions, one hour per class with the exception of the pre-school class which runs for forty-five minutes. The pre-school program requires that the children must be Kindergarten eligible by fall 2011 in order to participate in this program. Cost: Pre-School $150 all others $175.00

Performing Arts Workshop back to top
Our Performance Arts program is for young people in grades four through eight who have either experience on stage and have a strong interest in improving their skills, or who simply have a desire to participate in the performing arts. In Performance Arts I class (grades 4 – 6) students will learn the basics of stage performance. The young performer is introduced to “the basics” of acting for the stage including warm-up techniques for both voice and body, improvisation, theater games, stage direction, and solo and group scene work. In the Performance Arts II class (grades 7 – 9 ) young performers will continue to hone their stage skills with in-depth scene study and line memorization. While more intense, this program still does offer the opportunity for the first-time student. Cost: $175

The Actor Speaks back to top
When you listen to a play, do you ever wonder where all those words came from? Have you ever said yourself, “Wow! I have a great idea for a play.” or “I think I could play that part?”
This class will give students the opportunity to express themselves and to grow as a writers and performers. They will study the basic elements of play writing: setting, plot, and character development. They will also be introduced to and examine the concept of conflict as the basis for traditional play writing. As they learn, they will develop your ideas and create their own monologues or scenes. Finally, they will explore and hone acting skills as they rehearse and prepare to perform their work for guests during the last class meeting. Cost: $175
The most important objectives for this class are to learn and have fun. The object is simply to become more familiar with different processes of writing and performing and to develop the students abilities while studying the methods.
